March #brilliantphotoaday

Hello lovelies! In a watch-me-forever-play-catch-up-with-myself charade, here are my photos from Kate Gabrielle’s #brilliantphotoaday for March. Whoop! I’m definitely struggling with April (my ability to take a photo on the day of the theme has gone completely out of the window since being on the canal boat!) but I’m also still really enjoying it.

To see photos from the other lovely folks doing the project, visit Instagram and search for #brilliantphotoaday. They’re well-worth a look if you’re so inclined!

♥ This lemon and poppy seed cake looks so very, very delicious.

♥ Apparently, hot baths burn as many calories as a 30 minute walk. Sounds like a good excuse to take lots of lovely baths if you ask me!

10 easy midwifery essay writing tips

Essays, essays, essays.

I mention that dreaded word on this blog quite often – the past few years essays have plagued me more than they ever used to. You may or may not be aware that I received my BA in English & Linguistics years ago before I started my degree in midwifery; back then I actively enjoyed writing essays! These days I find essay writing a lot more arduous, and thought I would share some hints and tips that I used both in my English & Linguistics degree and have been using for my midwifery degree…

Photo an Hour: 25th March, 2017

As promised yesterday, here is my photo an hour post from March! It was a beautiful, sunny day spent being extremely indulgent… Jack’s folks came to visit us in the afternoon, and then later in the evening his sister Suki joined us too. The five of us went out for a delicious meal in the evening, after having spent a few hours sampling wine and cocktails beforehand! Here come the photos…

Back to normality

Hello and greetings from Westcliff! We returned from our holiday on Saturday, both glad to come home and sad to leave our lovely canal boat. We had a lovely time, but now we’re back there’s a lot to get done. I spent some time whilst on holiday revising for my up-and-coming OSCE exams, but now the revision needs to start in earnest! I’m working my way through a mountain of washing, as well as trying to give the flat a spring clean. The usual culprits of Getty submissions, NIPE revision and being back on placement this week means that everything is gearing up to getting crazy once more… But that’s just how life is right now!

I’m hoping to post my photo an hour posts for March and April this week, as well as my submissions for #brilliantphotoaday for March. I’m also planning on writing some more midwifery/student midwife content soon, but we’ll see how that pans out with everything else I have on my plate right now..!

As always, check out my Flickr or Instagram for daily photos and life snippets. Take care, folks!

Thought vomit & a bit of everything.

It’s the 29th of March, a grey Wednesday that I’ve spent half with my mum and half with two orange kitties. It’s gone 6pm and the daylight is still slinking through the slats on the blind in our office. Ginger is currently sitting by the front door, spying on Barns through the cat flap; I opened the front door a few minutes ago to see if he wanted to come in, but he just stared at me blankly. I’m not sure, but I think he is guarding the flat from intruder cats…
