Things I Love Thursday #8
“The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude.” — Friedrich Nietzsche
Things I Love Thursday is an idea created by the inimitable Gala Darling. In 2007 she began creating a list every Thursday, sharing links, people and experiences that she had fallen in love with that week. All over the internet people the idea was passed around: everyone loved the concept of celebrating appreciation and thankfulness together and began creating their own lists… This is mine!
♥ Wearing my cherry red DMs! They’re perfect for stomping about in cold weather.
♥ Receiving a fabulous new book in the post: “How to tell if your cat is plotting to kill you”. I saved the book itself to read at work, but I ripped the poster out straight away (it’s proudly displayed above my bed!). It made me chortle like a crazy person and I’m really glad I bought it. This leads me to say, if you don’t already know and love The Oatmeal, get to it! My favourite posts are How much do cats actually kill?, My dog, every time and Cat vs Internet.
♥ One of my co-workers doing the most peculiar dance moves in the office… They have to be seen to be believed.
♥ I have finally caught up with one of my new year’s resolutions: read one book a week. I’ve been cataloguing the books I’m reading on my LibraryThing account, if you’re interested.
♥ Celebrating national chocolate week: I’ve had a little (or large!) bit of chocolate every day so far. Chocolate definitely helps the happiness levels!
♥ Christmas trees! We have a greenhouse full of them at work, and I’ve been told that it’s not even the beginning… Some have already gone out (two were used in a television advert this week!) but most of them are ready and waiting. Seeing them all together makes me really cheerful, with all of the pretty decorations and twinkling lights. I have this feeling that I may be unbearably chipper to my colleagues, who have all confessed that they hate Christmas as they have to be so involved in it… We shall see!
♥ Getting a really sweet voice mail message from my best friend after a bad day: she rang because our song was playing on the radio! It made me instantly cheerful and smiley to hear her and to hear a bit of our song.
Do you write a Things I Love Thursday or gratitude list? If not, what would you write on it this week? If so, please share it with me!
