Things I Love Thursday #5
“She stays at school so that she can hear the sound of the life of the mind.” — Ben Folds Five, The Sound of the Life of the Mind (lyrics by Nick Hornby)
Things I Love Thursday is an idea created by the inimitable Gala Darling. In 2007 she began creating a list every Thursday, sharing links, people and experiences that she had fallen in love with that week. All over the internet people the idea was passed around: everyone loved the concept of celebrating appreciation and thankfulness together and began creating their own lists… This is mine!
♥ Ben Folds Five’s new album ‘The Sound of the Life of the Mind’. I was one of the pledges for their new album at Pledge Music and as such I got to hear the album a week early – it’s awesome! A challenge for this awesomeness is the video that they did for the track “Do It Anyway”! … Although I have to say that my favourite track is definitely “Draw A Crowd”. I bought a ticket to see them in London in December and I cannot wait!
♥ A reduction in pot-holes! Now this will sound silly but – the road to where I work is riddled with the damn things, but this week a couple of them got filled in (! whoah!) and the simple act of not having to remember to avoid them has brightened my days a hell of a lot!
♥ Watching the Great British Bake-Off… Live! (The simple things!)
♥ Cat-sitting at my ma’s for a week. I’m drinking whole pints of milk and playing the piano and luxuriating in the feeling of being alone. I love having people around me, but lately it feels like there’s been no possibility of spending time with myself. I’ve also been pogging myself full of chocolate cake and pasta (courtesy of my ma), as well as shepherd’s pie and apple pie (courtesy of my grandma)… Not to mention the four-pack of Newcastle Brown Ale my ma strategically left on the side! Looking after three gorgeous cats makes me pretty happy, too!
♥ Hooping! I’ve left my hoop at my ma’s since I moved into the new house , but whilst I’ve been away I’ve been hooping every night. Dancing, hooping and swimming are definitely the best forms of exercise if you ask me!
♥ Bitches in Bookshops. Yes. Please.
Do you write a Things I Love Thursday or gratitude list? If not, what would you write on it this week? If so, please share it with me!
