I have been taking a daily self-portrait for over 10 years now, so when our son Arthur was born it felt natural to start taking a daily photo of him too! I’m picking one photo from each week to share here on my blog.
I took this photo on Christmas Eve, when Arthur was just 17 days old. We were spending most of our days cuddled up on the sofa, mostly the three of us (sometimes joined by our cats, but they were still a little wary of Arthur then). Arthur tended to cluster feed in the evenings, so we would often take turns playing Breath of the Wild on our Switch (I briefly became quite good at no-handed breastfeeding, though that may have been after this photo, I’m not sure).
Nearly all of my daily photos were taken after 2000, when we’d finally managed to eat dinner and were considering turning in for the night. Obviously, the Christmas tree was a fabulous photo prop in the early days! I have to admit that I especially love our family self-portraits from whilst I was in labour, and a week later with Arthur.
