On Tuesday I shared my first photos from Fairport’s Cropredy Convention 2014 – the opening set of the festival, featuring both the fabulous Fairport Convention and also the wonderful Conservatoire Folk Ensemble, fronted by the violinist Joe Broughton.
As I’m already a big fan of Joe Broughton, I was expecting their set to be pretty darned awesome, and I’m glad to say that I wasn’t at all disappointed! Joe set the band up seventeen years ago, and due to the performers being from the Birmingham Conservatoire, the line-up is constantly evolving and the spontaneous atmosphere during their performance was definitely a testament to this!
If you get a chance to see them, I would strongly recommend it. I didn’t stop dancing/wiggling for the entirety of their set, and really enjoyed being able to see so many energetic perfomers who were obviously completely loving every second of their time on stage.
As mentioned in my post of photos of Fairport Acoustic Convention, I’ll also be posting photos of The Wonder Stuff, Fairport Convention’s Saturday night set and also a photo an hour post. Keep your eyes peeled!
