Link Round-Up

♥ Gala, on the American election this week: What the hell do we do now?

♥ … And on that note, Keiko wrote a post about how to do more: volunteering or donating to organisations and people that need help.

Be nice or go away.

♥ LiveBeautifullyBody has some amazing sounding smellies in their shop – who else is interested in raspberry and vanilla whipped lip butter? Mmm!

Such pretty rings!

♥ This parsnip and potato mash sounds delicious.

♥ I know I’ve read this article previously, so apologies if I’ve linked it before – bullying in midwifery: one small but mighty trick.

♥ Any excuse for more plants is good in my book!

♥ I don’t know that many of the women in my life will be surprised to hear that the pill has been linked to depression. Extra for experts: the racist and sexist history of keeping birth control side effects secret.

♥ I’m a sucker for brooches, and this pretty typewriter one is no exception!

This week has been a bit of a weird one, and has brought about a lot more political talk than I usually come into contact with on a regular basis. I think that now is definitely the time to make sure that not only we’re all having these conversations, but that we’re actually acting on our views, too. A number of the women I know at university have said that they don’t really understand politics, or that because the election is in America and not the UK, it doesn’t really affect them… So they don’t care. It feels completely incomprehensible to me that intelligent, good-hearted people can feel that way – it makes me feel really quite sad.

I’m finding solace in the amount of people I know who already fight for causes that are important to them, and all of the people I have in my life that are loving, positive, good people. If nothing else, I will always find a lot to be thankful for, and I will always strive to improve myself, my understanding and the lives of the people around me. I hope you all feel the same way – take care, folks.
