Photo an Hour: 28th January, 2017

On Saturday morning I woke up to my alarm, and remembering I’d decided to take my photo an hour for January on this day (mainly because there were only four days left of January and two of them I would not be able to take a photo an hour in) I let myself hit snooze once, and then rolled out of bed to be greeted by the kitties…

8am – Sunlight was already pouring through the gaps in the curtains, creating the pretty effect seen above. To make a change from my first photo of the day being cat and/or coffee, I went with curtains!

9am – Not wanting to go off on too much of a tangent, my second photo of the day is Barns making a nest in my dressing gown, as is his wont…

10am – … And so it follows that the third photo should be of coffee, of course.

11am – We lounged about in the living room for most of the morning – watching Saturday Kitchen, mostly, but also playing with this little mister. He was feeling very energetic and had a lot of steam to let off!

12am – Jack’s been doing some bike maintenance from home, gearing up for summer rides!

1pm – I treated myself to a midday shower… Because, why not?! I got lots and lots of Lush goodies for Christmas, so our entire bathroom smells glorious right now. One of my favourites is my tub of Hair Custard – it smells just like vanilla custard!

2pm – After a while, we decided to take a walk to the seafront. I snapped this one of my handsome Jack just before we put our coats on and left the house.

3pm – I adore living so close to this! Swoon!

4pm – We decided to have lunch at Toulouse, which it turns out was an absolutely marvelous idea. Yum, yum, yum!

5pm – After a little more time by the sea, we made our way home by the shops to pick up some groceries…

6pm – … And as soon as we got home, we were greeted by a very enthusiastic Barns!

7pm – We made ourselves some dinner, then settled in the living room for a while. Time for even more kitty cuddles!

8pm – We bought Odin’s Ravens way back at the tail end of 2016 (in November, I think) so it was high-time that we had our first play-through. It’s a lovely little game for two, well-worth buying for quiet nights in.

9pm – My SP of the day! I’m joining in with Kate Gabrielle’s #brilliantphotoaday project for 2017, and the theme for this day was “a view from above”. I had wanted to shoot from our roof terrace (as our flat spans the 1st and 2nd floor of our building, it’s quite high up!) but by the time we got home it was too dark for that.

10pm – A bit of PC time!

11pm – Ready for bed – I had to be up for a 7am shift start the next day (!) so a good night’s rest was very much in order.

There you have it, my first photo an hour of 2017! For anyone considering trying a photo an hour, I’d thoroughly recommend it – it can be difficult to remember to take a photo every hour, but if you pop an alarm on your phone for 5 minutes before the hour, it takes a bit of the stress out of it. Whenever I shoot one, I always think “bla, none of these images are very exciting” until near the end of the day when I feel like I’ve shot a couple of lovely ones… Then when I come to edit it them, I’m always super pleased with all of the memories I’ve captured that I wouldn’t have otherwise, and all of the tiny, little moments that I would have forgotten otherwise. Yay for photo an hour!
